What is a zine?
A zine (pronounced zeen) is a self-published booklet that is typically produced in small, limited batches. Zines are created and bound in various DIY ways, and their topics cover so many categories. The main rule with zines is that there are none.

Zines have been around since 1776 when Thomas Paine self-published Common Sense and used it as an instrument in promoting the ideas that contributed to the U.S. War for Independence. This points to the free spirit and organizing power of zine culture. We’re sure there have been more ancient examples of zines, and until we come across those, we leave you with this one. Information about zines is vast and fascinating: read more here or watch a video here.
